ISCHIA (Naples, Italy) – The Ischia Global Film & Music Festival pays tribute to Vittorio De Sica with a double event dedicated to the legendary master of Italian cinema.
The homage kicks off on Monday, July 13, in Piazza San Girolamo (Ischia Porto), with a special screening of “The Garden of the Finzi-Continis” (Il giardino dei Finzi Contini), the masterpiece that earned De Sica the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1972. During the evening, acclaimed actor Fabio Testi will also be honored with a festival award.
The tribute will continue on July 16 in Casamicciola with the screening of “Vittorio De Sica – Life on Stage” (Vittorio De Sica – La vita in scena), the documentary directed by Francesco Zippel, distributed by Fandango, which made its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.
Produced by Andrea De Sica, the film retraces the extraordinary artistic and personal journey of Vittorio De Sica, an eternal symbol of Italian cinema worldwide. On the occasion of the screening, Francesco Zippel will be presented with a special Ischia Global Award.
Furthermore, Andrea De Sica will receive an award for his latest feature film, “The Eyes of Others” (Gli occhi degli altri), starring Jasmine Trinca and Filippo Timi.
This tribute underscores Ischia Global’s ongoing mission to celebrate the greatest figures of the seventh art, seamlessly blending cinematic heritage, contemporary talent, and new artistic visions.
