ISCHIA – Leaving Ridge Forrester behind is indeed possible. Today, Ronn Moss steps into the boots of cowboy Tex McKenzie, choosing Italy as the backdrop for his directorial debut, which celebrated its world premiere at the Ischia Global Film & Music Festival ahead of its fall release in the US and Australia.
“This time I was truly myself, both behind and in front of the camera,” confessed the American star. “The character in Bold and the Beautiful was completely different. I wanted to show, especially in Italy, that there is much more to me than that role”.
A deeply personal project born from a childhood dream, the film traces its roots back to Moss’s family heritage. Raised in California among ranches, horses, and rodeos organized by his father, Moss channeled his lifelong passion for the West into his first feature film. Drawing inspiration from Clint Eastwood’s direct filmmaking style and offering a cinematic nod to Sergio Leone’s iconic close-up stares, “Tex McKenzie” is described by its producers as a “spiritual, esoteric western” focused on strong values without gratuitous violence.
Filmed over a month in the Abruzzo Apennines between Camerata Nuova and Campo Secco at an altitude of over 1,400 meters—the historic location of “They Call Me Trinity”—the movie features an international cast including Stefano Sala, Daniel Nilsson, Sofia Elena Taglioni, Yassmin Pucci, and a cameo by actress and producer Devin DeVasquez. Produced by Tiziano Cavaliere (who co-wrote the screenplay and score alongside Moss and Donatella Corrado), Devin DeVasquez, and Francesca Ceccarelli for Bros Group Italia, 11:11 Films International, and Adamantis Europe, the indie project marks a new artistic chapter for the international star.
