Rob Marshall is a brilliant film and theater director and choreographer. The creator of the live-action “The Little Mermaid” will be honored with ”the Ischia Legend Award – In the name of Luchino Visconti”. The award will be presented to the director on July 15 at the grand finale gala of the Ischia Global Festival at Regina Isabella.

Rob Marshall also received five nominations for Tony Awards. He is also well-known for hugely successful musicals and great stories to the screen such as ”Chicago” which was nominated at the Oscars, and “Nine,” the homage to Fellini’s film ”8½”. Moreover, He directed also “Pirates of the Caribbean-Beyond the Sea“, “Into the Woods“, and “Memoirs of a Geisha.”

Unforgettable were the dance numbers he devised for the musical that brought Catherine Zeta-Jones to the statuette. The Ischia Legend Award has also been awarded over the years to directors Baz Luhrmann, Marco Bellocchio, and many others.
