The film follows Elphaba, a young woman born with green skin and extraordinary powers, and Galinda, a popular and ambitious student at Shiz University in the Land of Oz. Despite their differences, the two form an unlikely friendship. When their encounter with the Wizard of Oz challenges their beliefs, their lives take diverging paths, setting in motion the events that will lead Elphaba to become known as the Wicked Witch of the West and Galinda as the Good Witch.
