Synopsis:
After serving a prison sentence for the murder of her husband, Paulina, 35, is released on parole and returns to her hometown with the hope of seeing her 11-year-old son, Nikodem. However, her mother-in-law Jadwiga, who has been raising the boy, strongly opposes the meeting. Still trapped in her grief over the loss of her son Andrzej, Jadwiga cannot forgive Paulina, turning the long-awaited reunion into a painful confrontation between guilt, grief and unresolved wounds.
Dopo aver scontato una pena detentiva per l’omicidio del marito, Paulina, 35 anni, ottiene la libertà condizionata e torna nella sua città natale con il desiderio di rivedere il figlio undicenne, Nikodem. A ostacolare l’incontro è Jadwiga, la suocera, che si prende cura del bambino e non riesce ad accettare il ritorno di Paulina. Ancora devastata dalla morte del figlio Andrzej, Jadwiga è incapace di perdonare, trasformando il ricongiungimento in uno scontro carico di dolore, colpa e ferite mai rimarginate.
