Synopsis:
Ben visits his demented grandfather Isaac to celebrate Pessach with him. The former miner Isaac can hardly remember his grandson and often can no longer recognize it at all. His environment also becomes blurred to a space with no connection to reality. For Ben, Isaac is simply his grandfather. But it hurts him to see how his cognitive abilities are becoming worse . With his efforts he tries to give Isaac a life, that could feel as normal as possible for Isaac.
Daria announced herself at the time of Pessach. Darja is the granddaughter by Estha, Isaac’s childhood friend. Estha was able to do so during the time of persecution of the Jews and was smuggled onto a train with the help of Isaac’s parents, who brought people to safe European countries. That’s how they became Both children, who were inseparable like a heart and a soul, from each other separated and never saw each other again. Now Estha has died at an old age and Darja didn’t give up on following in her grandmother’s footsteps. She knew Estha had already looked for Isaac many years ago and felt that he still had to live.
With a final message from Estha, Darja goes searching and finds Ben and Isaac after intensive research. She sets off on her journey from Spain to Recklinghausen and announces herself in advance with an email to Ben. She meets the two who, live Jewish culture wholeheartedly. The
Special gift from Estha to Isaac suddenly makes him realize and remember. Darja is given her grandmother’s old violin by Isaac, that once saved his life.
They find each other and have a wonderful Pessach together.
