Synopsis:
The oldest Carnival in Italy comes to life through memories, archival footage and a powerful collective imagination rooted for centuries in the city of Fano. At the heart of this tradition are papier-mâché, the master float builders and their traveling stages — monumental carnival floats shaped by creativity, engineering and craftsmanship. Through the encounter between the mask Vulón and a young boy who knows nothing about the Carnival, the film guides the audience through parades, costumes and sweets, revealing that Carnival is not just a celebration, but a shared emotion that warms the heart of an entire community.
Il Carnevale più antico d’Italia prende forma attraverso ricordi, filmati d’archivio e un immaginario potentissimo radicato nei secoli nella città di Fano. Al centro della tradizione ci sono la cartapesta e i maestri carristi che, generazione dopo generazione, hanno costruito veri e propri palcoscenici viaggianti. L’incontro tra la maschera del Vulón e un bambino che non conosce il Carnevale diventa il filo conduttore per accompagnare lo spettatore tra sfilate, costumi e dolciumi, raccontando che il Carnevale non è soltanto una festa, ma un sentimento profondo capace di unire una città e il suo territorio.
